Lord! Lord! make an end! make an end! - Erasmus☆c. 1466 †1536
Desiderius Erasmus of Rotterdam was a Dutch humanist, Catholic theologian, and pioneering philologist, one of the most influential scholars of the Northern Renaissance. He produced groundbreaking editions of the New Testament in Latin and Greek, and his scholarly output shaped both Protestant and Catholic Reformation movements across Europe. He died on 12 July 1536 in Basel, his last words a plea for his suffering to be over.
